Zoom Introduces AI Avatars for Virtual Meetings
Image: Zoom
Zoom is stepping up its AI game with a new feature that allows users to create personalized AI avatars. This development is part of Zoom’s broader expansion into artificial intelligence, aimed at improving productivity and flexibility in virtual meetings.
Key Points:
Users can create avatars that look and sound like them by recording an initial video, enabling the avatar to speak and send messages.
The AI avatars can only be used with Zoom’s Clips feature, allowing brief video messages to be sent to team members.
Zoom is addressing concerns around deepfakes by incorporating advanced authentication, watermarking technology, and strict usage policies.
Custom avatars will be available with Zoom’s AI Companion add-on for $12/month, but paid subscribers can still use preset avatars at no extra cost.
The new add-on will also allow Zoom’s AI to integrate with apps like Zendesk and Asana and offer more personalized meeting summary options.
Zoom’s AI avatar feature is designed to give users more flexibility in managing their meetings and tasks while maintaining security measures to protect against potential misuse.
AI-Powered Electronic Tongue Offers New Insights in Food Safety and Diagnostics
Researchers at Penn State have developed an electronic tongue capable of distinguishing subtle differences in liquids, such as milk with varying water content or signs of spoilage in fruit juices. By integrating AI, the device not only improves accuracy but also provides a deeper understanding of how decisions are made by neural networks. The graphene-based sensor is non-functionalized, allowing it to detect a variety of chemicals and assess quality, authenticity, and freshness with over 95% accuracy. This innovative technology has broad potential for applications in food safety, production, and medical diagnostics.
