Google Meet is set to enhance productivity with its upcoming AI-powered note-taking feature, which will automatically capture meeting notes. This tool, part of the Gemini AI platform, aims to allow users to focus fully on discussions rather than splitting their attention between listening and note-taking.

Key Points

  • The new feature, "Take notes for me," leverages Gemini AI to automatically document meeting details, streamlining workflow.

  • Admins can configure and test the tool ahead of its general release by adjusting settings in the Admin console, ensuring control over who can access the feature.

  • Initially available to users with Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings and Messaging add-on licenses, the feature will be rolled out to these licensed users first.

  • This tool is part of a broader suite of AI enhancements, including expanded translation features and improved Gmail functionalities.

With the introduction of "Take notes for me," Google Meet aims to reduce the burden of manual note-taking and enhance overall meeting efficiency. The tool is expected to roll out soon, following testing and configuration by Google Workspace admins.

FCC Proposes AI Disclosure Rules for Robocalls and Texts

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has proposed new rules to address the surge in AI-generated robocalls and robotexts, requiring callers to disclose their use of AI at the beginning of communications. This move follows recent controversies involving AI technology, including a notable case of an AI-generated call impersonating President Joe Biden. The proposed rules are part of a broader initiative to enhance transparency and combat fraudulent practices, complemented by improvements to the FCC’s robocall mitigation database and new partnerships to track scammers. By increasing disclosure and refining monitoring efforts, the FCC aims to better protect consumers from deceptive AI-driven communications.

  • New AI Assistant Silvia Bridges Spanglish Gap: A new AI assistant called Silvia, created by Mansidak Singh, addresses the challenge of switching between English and Spanish seamlessly by supporting "Spanglish" and other language combinations. Unlike traditional AI assistants that struggle with bilingual input, Silvia offers a solution for multilingual speakers by accurately transcribing mixed-language conversations and will soon expand to additional languages.
